samir manji

Chief Executive Officer

Samir Manji is the founder and CEO of Sandpiper.

Samir was formerly the Chairman and Founder of Amica Mature Lifestyles Inc., until the sale of the company to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in December 2015.

Samir’s real estate career began in 1993, shortly after completing his Chartered Accountant designation, when he acquired a financially distressed retirement residence in Burnaby, BC. A rapid expansion strategy ensued and in 1997, Samir took the company public. In 2000, the ‘Amica’ brand was born and under Samir’s direction and leadership, Amica Mature Lifestyles became the premier brand in luxury retirement living in Canada.

Samir is an entrepreneur, a strategist, an advisor and a real estate investor.

Samir is an active member of YPO. He also currently serves as the President of the Ismaili Council for British Columbia.

President & Chief Operating Officer

Renzo Barazzuol is Sandpiper’s President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day management of Sandpiper.

Renzo was most recently Chief Financial Officer for the Aquilini Group. He began there in 2008 as CFO for Aquilini Development and Construction Inc.. His career spans over 30 years, including leadership roles in a variety of industries including real estate, seniors housing, construction, waste energy, farming, entertainment and food and beverage.

Renzo has spearheaded and participated in acquisitions, operations and every financial aspect of both public and private companies.

Renzo earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Navdeep Gill

Chief Financial Officer

Navdeep Gill is Sandpiper’s Vice President of Finance, overseeing accounting, tax and finance.

Navdeep was most recently Vice President, Financial Operations at the Tempest Group, a boutique broker dealer and investment fund manager. Her experience spans over a decade where she has held positions as Senior Manager at Deloitte and senior financial reporting positions at OMERS and its related investment entities including Oxford Properties. During her experience she has managed the accounting and reporting for several commercial and retail properties and has served clients in the financial services and real estate industry. Navdeep has strong institutional experience coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit. She has a robust background in full cycle accounting, compliance, tax and finance. Navdeep holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba, is a Chartered Professional Accountant and is a board member of the Central City Foundation.

Corey Colville

Vice President, Investments

Corey Colville is responsible for the full cycle of idea generation through to transaction execution and carrying out asset management. Corey brings over 10 years of experience in corporate development, due diligence, analysis and real estate appraisal to Sandpiper Group. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Corey led corporate development at Amica Mature Lifestyles Inc. where he was responsible for new developments, acquisitions, divestures and internal growth opportunities. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and has completed the Appraisal Institute of Canada and University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business PGCV program.

Alyssa Barry

Vice President, Capital Markets and Communications

Alyssa Barry is responsible for strategic communications and investor relations. Alyssa brings over 10 years of capital markets experience to Sandpiper Group, specializing in corporate communications and reporting, corporate governance, and investor relations strategy. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Alyssa oversaw investor relations at Amica Mature Lifestyles Inc. where she developed and executed the company’s IR strategy and played a key role in the sale of Amica to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in December 2015. She obtained her Diploma in Public Relations from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Business Leadership and Management Certificate from Vancouver Community College, and Certified Professional in Investor Relations from Ivey Business School. Alyssa is an active member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.

Sahir Bhanji

Senior Analyst

Sahir Bhanji is responsible for qualifying investment opportunities and potential acquisitions as part of the deal team, in addition to assisting with asset management of portfolio investments. Prior to joining Sandpiper, Sahir spent four years in the financial institutions and real estate assurance practice at KPMG LLP, where he provided a multitude of financial services to various public and private real estate companies, credit unions and private equity firms.

Denby Sineath-Sinn

Senior Accountant

Denby Sineath-Sinn is Sandpiper’s Senior Accountant and supports the day-to-day financial operations and reporting, taxation, finance and investor reporting. Denby was most recently Senior Accountant at ASIG where he was responsible for the full accounting cycle and assisted in the transition of the accounting department when it was acquired. Prior to this, he worked at Canadian National Railway, where he was part of revenue management focusing on the supply chain and automotive sector. Denby holds a Bachelor of Commerce from John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Landon Bahrey


Landon Bahrey is responsible for supporting the deal team in evaluating new investment opportunities as well as assisting with asset management and relationship development. Landon was most recently an investment banking analyst at Capital West Partners, where he was responsible for delivering top quality analysis and advice to clients as they engaged in significant and complex corporate strategy milestones. Prior to this, he completed internships with the investment banking division at National Bank of Canada and the consulting group at The T1 Agency. Landon holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from Queen’s University, where he received numerous academic awards while also participating in several entrepreneurial, student-based investment funds. Landon is currently pursuing the CFA designation.

Reef Chiu


Reef Chiu is responsible for supporting the deal team in evaluating investment opportunities, asset management, and relationship development. Reef was most recently an analyst at Bloomberg in Hong Kong where his focus was on building comparable valuation templates for fixed income instruments. Prior to this, he completed internships with Agentis Capital, Ace Group and Ivest Private Equity. He holds a Bachelors of Commerce from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia and is actively working towards his CFA designation.

Aanchal Dhir


Aanchal Dhir is responsible for supporting the deal team in evaluating investment opportunities, asset management, and relationship development. Aanchal was most recently Asset Manager for Dhir Capital, where she was responsible for conducting due diligence for a wide array of real estate properties and played a key role in expanding the firm's real estate portfolio into the United States. Prior to this, Aanchal led her own investment management company whereby she invested and managed a portfolio of Canadian and American listed technology, biotechnology, and commodity securities. She holds a Bachelors of Commerce with Honours in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the Sauder School of Business from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Finance from the University of Cambridge.

Kelvin Li


Kelvin Li is responsible for supporting the deal team in evaluating investment opportunities, asset management, and relationship development. Kelvin spent two summers interning at Dundee Private Equity, where he worked on special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) and traditional private equity transactions. Additionally, he was Chief Investment Officer of one of his university’s investment clubs. Kelvin holds a Bachelors of Commerce from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and is pursuing his CFA designation.

Evita Damian

Executive Assistant and Office Manager

Evita Damian is Sandpiper’s Executive Assistant to Samir Manji and Renzo Barazzuol, and is Sandpiper’s Office Manager.

Evita has supported Samir for over 15 years and brings extensive years of administrative and office management experience to Sandpiper. She is known for her professionalism, amazing memory and superb organization.

Andrea Liaw

Office Administrator

Andrea Liaw is Sandpiper’s Office Administrator, overseeing reception and supporting the team with administration.

Andrea’s aim is to ensure the office runs smoothly at all times. She holds a degree in International Relations and a minor in Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
